Rose's Boarding Suit
Old Rose described herself as a prisoner, "going back to America in chains," a jailbird theme followed with the vertical pinstripes of her suit, the bars of a cell, and horizonal striped of old-fashioned inmate garb.
A closely-fitted two-piece linen suit, pinstripe linen trimmed with deep purple low-pile silk velvet, lined in silk habotai. Jacket closes with functional buttons, covered in the same fabrics as the suit. The buttons on the skirt are decorative only, and has a vented kick-pleat in the back. Skirt closes with hooks and eyes at the waist.
Blouse is Swiss batiste with cotton Cluny lace at the rounded collar, and the necktie is purple silk satin.
This suit would be smashing with any color trim.
