Even though the viewer was informed within minutes that Satine was dead by the end of the story, Christian's heart-wrenching sobs bring tears to my eyes every time I watch this film. Such love he felt for her that he was willing to share her than to not have her at all, to risk all to get her away from her virtual-prison, to do what he had to do to know the truth about her love for him. It's such a shame that this gown, despite the amount of screen time, wasn't shown off as much as it should have been.
I have done very labor-intensive gowns before, but this one may take the cake. Incredibly heavy hand embroidery and crystal work combined with a deceptively complex design will make this a pricey gown. A six-month lead time is mandatory, and rush-ordering is not available.
A standard version is also is available using a combination of purchased trims and hand embroidery and crystal work. This version will be more open to my interpretation due to the limitations of available pre-made trims.
