Scarlett's Porch Dress
Known by some as the "Porch Dress" and others as the "Prayer Dress," this dreamy confection is a wonderful way to show off the cotton the south was so famous for.  A full 40 yards of it is used.  The eight ruffled tiers of 100% organic USA-grown cotton are trimmed with 150 yards (!!) of cotton raschel lace.  The skirt is a full circle skirt, constructed in a favorite method of Plunkett's to cut down on bulk while still achieving a full look.  This is extremely time-consuming.  The separate boned bodice is covered in many rows of the same lace, and the sleeves and four ruffles are also trimmed.  The front is decorated with 32 ball buttons over a dense row of hooks and eyes to close.  Several more hooks and eyes connect the bodice to the skirt.  The red velvet belt includes a custom-made buckle of the same cotton fabric.  Also included are two red velvet hair bows attached to your choice of combs or elastic.

A heavy wired hoop skirt is absolutely required for the proper look of this dress, though a lack of a corset wouldn't throw it all off, but is recommended.
