Scarlett's Drapery Gown
A reproduction of this gown, seen below, was created in 1986 by Carrie Harrell and Jan Hevenor, was created as the original for the film was badly deteriorated from lack of proper conservation.  "Detailed measurements of the garments were taken to determine the necessary yardage. Tiny pieces of fabric were taken from the inside seams in order to match color and fiber content. Finally, all the trimmings and underpinnings were counted and measured."  A total of 16 yards of Italian cotton velveteen was used. The silk tassels and cording were reproduced by Scalamandre of New York. The dress took over 200 hours to complete.  "[T]he dress has a moss green velvet overskirt that parts in the front to reveal a chartreuse velvet underskirt. It has fitted sleeves with a semi-cape on the left shoulder and a drapery cord belt."

The gown is in three parts, the velveteen underskirt, the main body of the gown, and the rope-tassel "belt."  The main body closes in the front with hooks and eyes.  The bodice is heavily boned and the overskirt is lined only at the edges.
The bonnet Scarlett had made to wear used the fringe she ran her fingers through in the film, and uses real rooster feet.  I will use fake rooster feet for all bonnets.  Black rooster feathers trim it, and it uses ribbons to tie under the neck.

My standard version will be made of domestic cotton velveteen and standard interior cording and tassels for the belt.  The deluxe version will use imported Italian cotton velveteen and cording and tassels ordered directly from Scalamandre.  Construction will be the same, regardless of version, three pieces with a boned, front-closing bodice using the same fitting seams and darts as seen to the right.

A heavy hook skirt is needed.
