Scarlett's Christmas Dress
Such a simple and beautiful gown, about 16 yards of burgundy-black changeable silk taffeta are hand-pleated to a fitted waist band and deeply hemmed by hand with a sweep of 12 yards around the bottom.  The long, fringed silk sash is included.

The bodice is made of several panels of gathered cotton fabric with bands of the skirt's taffeta and closes with a row of hooks and eyes in the front.  It is fully lined with non-gathered cotton.  I have several photos that look as if Vivien Leigh is not wearing a corset.  The shape of her breasts are very clear.  See the photo to the left.  If made without boning, this bodice can
be worn with a pair of jeans and
thrown in the wash.  But it can
also be made boned.  I suggest
a non-boned bodice.  Hooks can
be used to connect the skirt.
An elliptical hook skirt is needed for the proper look, though a standard hoop skirt will suffice.  A corset is suggested, but, as mentioned above, I don't think Vivien wore one in this scene.
